The glass door opens.
Deacon looks over to see a gorgeous brunette walking out to the table
caring a salad. She is petite but
defined. A flowered sundress revealing
her olive skin and a smile takes Deacons breath away. Lana follows right behind her and asks Deacon
if he remembers her best friend Crissy, her maid of honor at her and Greg’s
wedding. He tells her that of course he
remembers her.
“Your wedding was just a year ago.”
“Is that all it’s been, just a year?” Greg says laughing.
Lana punches Greg in the arm. Deacon confirms his suspicion of this being a
set up. Deacon stands up and while
reaching to greet her knocks Greg’s beer over.
Greg jumps backwards in his chair
as Lana hurries with a towel that had been under one of the pots on the table
to stop the flood of beer. Embarrassed
by the spilt beer, Deacon tells her it is nice to see her again and she returns
the same gesture. Everyone sits back down
and Deacon shoots a glance over at Greg. Greg just shrugs and smiles as he knows this
look from Deacon is related to the set up.
They all have a couple of beers. Crissy and Deacon get caught up on each
other’s lives through dinner. After
dinner, the conversation turns to the past and all of the stupid things that
Greg and Deacon did as kids. They all
laugh at the reminisced events. Deacon
checks his phone for the time, he sees it is almost nine o’ clock. He tells them that he had better get going as he
has to go see Simon tomorrow.
“Simon,” Crissy asks.
