The end of chapter 1

“Simon,” Crissy asks.

Lana explains to her that Simon is an old rancher that Deacon has become friends with in Castle Dale.

“That’s a long way away!”  Crissy exclaims.

Lana adds that it is part of Deacon’s route and Greg and he go up to his ranch to hunt, help him out, and play cowboys.  Deacon gives both Greg and Lana hugs.

“Thanks for dinner, it was great.”  Deacon tells them.

He politely shakes Crissy’s hand and reaffirms that it was nice to see her again.

As Deacon drives away, the three left at the house sit around talking about the evening when Crissy admits to Greg and Lana that she would really like to get to know Deacon better.  Lana tells her that she thinks that they would be really cute together.  Piping up from across the table, Greg tells them both that he doesn’t think that Deacon is going to be very receptive to the idea.  As he just doesn’t think he is ready yet.  He does reluctantly agree to talk to him.
