Chapter 3

Deacon is wakened by the sound of his alarm.  Today is Friday, and Deacon follows his morning routine, a little more energetic due to it being Friday.  He grabs the calendar while rolling out of bed.  Sitting up on the edge of the bed, he writes in one hundred and thirty one and circles it.  Thoughts of his lost future with Katelyn flood his mind as he sits there staring at the date.  He gets ready and leaves his house, heading towards the plant to meet Trent.

They go to Shoreline, and make their deliveries.  They are both in a hurry, because it is Friday.  Trent obviously more excited than Deacon, he explains that his wife doesn’t have to be at the hospital tonight so they are going to have a date night.  He then asks Deacon what he has planned.  Deacon tells him about helping his dad the next morning was the extent of his “plans”.   On their way back to the plant, Deacon tells him that when they get back to just clock out and go get started with his date night and he will stay and finish the paperwork.  Pulling in, Trent jumps out of the truck, yells back that he would see Deacon on Monday.  Deacon completes the paperwork and turns it in.  As he leaves the office he wishes the secretary a good weekend and clocks out.  On his way out to his truck his phone rings with Greg’s ringtone.  He answers it and Greg asks him where he is at.  Deacon tells him that he is just walking to his truck.  Greg informs him that they have dinner reservations in forty five minutes at Della Sirena and he had better hurry.  Deacon sarcastically thanks him for checking with him to make sure he didn’t have plans, before he made plans for him.
Greg fires back joking, “When do you ever have plans?  You either go to the gym, are with me, or are in bed, so don’t give me that.”
