"The Letter"

Dear Deacon

My Son, the government came and ordered an evacuation.  It was still dark when they arrived.  They were rounding up essential people pertaining to the situation at hand, and they were in a hurry.  I plead with them to give me time to find you, but they forced us out.   I don’t have much time to write this, so I hope it is enough time to tell you everything that I need to.  Your mother, sister and the kids are with me.  We could not get a hold of you.  You must not have had phone reception where you were.  I pray that this letter finds its way to you, and if you are reading this it means that you are still alive.  I pray that you are with Greg and Lana.  Stay together, and rely on each other.  Use what you have learned throughout your life to keep you’re selves alive.  I understand that all you ever knew I did was work for the government and I could not talk about it, but there are no secrets anymore.  Before I retired I was working on the intelligence end of trying to stop the group who is believed to be responsible for this travesty.  To give you what information I have in order to help keep you alive, my contacts in the CIA have told me that these are zombies, in all aspects of the word.  They don’t know a whole lot about them, but the initial wave was unleashed on almost all of the military installations.  These ones are being called runners.  They are fast and strong.  What we have learned today is that everyone who was bitten in the attacks were taken to local hospitals, where they died from infection.  The dead came back to life.  These ones are being called walkers.  They are not as fast but they are just as hungry.  I don’t know how much this will help you, but remember to trust your gut and watch your back.  I left some things for you down in the basement.  As soon as I can, I will try to come for you, or at least get word to you.  Remember to stay strong and be thankful for what you have and not what you wish you had.  Try to stay out of the city, as that is where the biggest concentrations of these creatures are.  I know we haven’t always been that close, but I promise I will fix that when this is over.  Again always remember I did not abandon you.

Love, Dad
