“What is in the basement?” Lana asks as she begins to get anxious.
“Guns, he has some downstairs, along with a stockpile of
ammunition for them,” Deacon answers.
Lana starts to shake. Greg puts his arm around her and tells
her to stay close, and that Deacon and he will keep her safe. They go downstairs and open the gun safe,
taking all the guns, a few pistols, a couple of hunting rifles, two shotguns,
and the AR Frank had just bought. Deacon
hurry’s to an adjacent closet, grabs some gym bags. They begin putting boxes of ammunition into
them. All together they fill up gym bags. They haul them out to the truck and Deacon tells
them that he has to go into the garage and collect a few more things. He asks Lana to stand on the corner of the
house and watch for anything coming. She
starts crying and shaking even worse.
“Ok, Greg you watch from the corner. Lana you come with me!”
They open the garage.
Deacon begins filling boxes with gun powder, primers and casings. He instructs Lana to put the boxes in the
truck, and she starts to cry all over again.
"Look, I’m not trying to be an ass Lana, but you need
to pull yourself together. This stuff
might mean the difference between life and death for us."
On her way to the truck she reaches the corner of the house
where Greg is standing guard. Lana hesitates
about going the rest of the way to the truck.
Greg notices and tells her it is ok, he is keeping watch for anything,
and that he will kill anything that moves.
She hurries to put the boxes in the back of the truck and rushes back to
the garage, Deacon hands her a box and grabs two himself as he tells her that
they should get in the truck and get out of there. She agrees without hesitation, and runs for
the truck.
