As she passes Greg on the way to the truck she says, "Let’s
go."
Greg waits for Deacon.
Deacon sets the box down that he is carrying, and closes the garage
door. Greg appears and asks what he has
in the box.
“My dad’s reloading press and all the taps and dies,” Deacon
tells him as he stands there looking up at the sky,
“You know, its eerie standing here not seeing a plane in the
sky,” Deacon continues.
“Ya, the weirdest part is how quiet it is” Greg tells him.
Deacon nods in agreement, and walks to the truck were Lana
is waiting safely inside. They begin to
drive towards Deacon’s house, they pass neighborhood after neighborhood. It is a ghost town. Closer to the town center, more and more creatures
can be seen stumbling through the streets. The creatures seem to be more prevalent in the
neighborhoods nearest the hospital. Driving
through town, Lana makes a small plea to go get some things from Greg’s and her
house. Greg tells her that they will
empty the load they already have, and then return to their home to get their
things. Deacon informs them that they will
take his enclosed trailer, allowing them to get everything they may want or
need.
Arriving at Deacons all three of them hurry to empty the
things from the truck into the garage. Deacon tells them that they will sort through the
boxes later. He continues to tell them
that he is going to pull around and couple his truck to his trailer and then
they can get going. Deacon is reluctant about going back into the
city.
Deacon pulls back
around the house and picks up Greg and Lana and they begin driving towards Greg
and Lana’s house.
“Go in and get what
you might need and anything sentimental.
Then we get out of there quick,” Deacon instructs them as they drive up
the empty streets
