“I told you.” #zombie #book2

Ben interrupts the conversation as he tells Ty that it is his turn.  Ben’s text message ring tone goes off.  He opens the message, reads it and then advises the other two that the remaining four men in the unit will meet them there.

“Even Pat and Anne are going to make it this time?”  Jayce asks and Ben nods.

“Good!  We can toast to Granger’s new life.” Ty offers as he goes towards the bathroom.

The bass thumps in their chests, as the three walk into the club.  They choose a table in a corner, with an unobstructed view of the front door and the rest of the club out of habit.  From there, they can watch everyone in the club along with all of the doors leading in and out of the club.  It is not as if they are expecting trouble, but their training has them programed to anticipate it.  The other members of the unit meet them there, and without hesitation, will know exactly where to find them.   The members of the unit, with the exception of Pat, his wife Anne, and Jayce, wander off to look for girls to dance with and if they may be so lucky to take home.  Pat leaves for the restroom.  Anne stays behind with Jayce and he asks her how she and Pat are doing.

“Good, I’m just excited to go out.  We all live on the edge of our seats waiting for you guys to get called up.”

Jayce nods with a smirk in agreement.  Pat rejoins them at the table.  The cocktail waitress saunters over to take their order.  Anne watches as the waitress keeps looking at Jayce.  As she walks away, Anne leans over to tell Jayce that the waitress was into him.  He blows it off in disbelief with a hint of embarrassment.  A short while passes and the waitress brings the drinks and sets them down on napkins, smiles at Jayce and walks away.  He takes a drink and Anne and Pat begin laughing.

“What?” Jayce asks.
“I told you.” Anne says giggling, as she points towards his napkin.
