“Is this what I think it is?” Stan slides his wire rimmed glasses down past
the bridge of his nose as he looks over the top of them towards Jayce.
“Yes sir. I think it’s
time for me to leave Delta and start a life for myself outside of the army.”
“So . . . start a family and stay in.”
“Sir, I don’t want to have any more secrets.”
“Captain, I can respect that.”
Stan taps the long edge of the envelope on the top of his
desk. He takes a deep breath, then asks
him how long until he will be finished. Jayce explains that he would give him a
couple of months to find a suitable replacement for him.
“Do the guys know?” The
Colonel questions.
“Not yet.” He simply
answers.
“Is your head straight, soldier?” Stan smirks as he knows the level of Jayce’s
drive.
“Yes, Sir!” Jayce
smiles in return.
“There are missions in the works that I had anticipated you
would run.” Stan explains and Jayce nods in acknowledgement.
“Are you positive that you want out?” Stan asks him again.
“I have never been more sure of anything.” The Captain explains.
